Family Supportive Services (FSS)

Programs and services designed to help families, especially those with children, cope with stressful situations and overcome challenges they may face. These services typically include counseling and guidance, parenting classes, emergency financial assistance, and access to resources such as food banks and healthcare. FSS aims to improve the quality of life for families by strengthening their self-sufficiency and resilience to prevent further crises or negative outcomes.

MENTORING

Mentors provide guidance, support, advice and share their knowledge and wisdom to help mentees develop skills, make better decisions, and achieve their goals.The mentor is a trusted role model, providing guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to support personal growth, skill enhancement, problem-solving, and navigating professional or personal challenges.

VIOLENCE PREVENTION SUPPORT

Overcoming Scars works in step with communities to provide the support and resources to community members impacted by violence. 

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

Overcoming Scars Workforce Development initiatives are often driven by collaboration between various stakeholders, including government agencies, educational institutions, employers, industry associations, community organizations, and workforce development boards. These partnerships aim to identify skill gaps, anticipate future workforce needs, and develop targeted interventions that can equip individuals with the necessary skills to meet those demands.

Restorative Practices

Unlike traditional punitive justice systems that primarily focus on punishment, incarceration, or retribution, restorative practices seek to address the root causes of harm and repair the harm by involving all parties affected. It places an emphasis on the active participation of both the victim and the offender, as well as the wider community, in finding resolutions and restoring relationships.
